Know which kind of business you are buying

Source review: 17 October 2026

Start with what you would own and run. A franchise lets you operate under a company’s brand and business system, subject to its agreement. A dealer or installer program may focus on selling and fitting a company’s products. An international master franchise involves developing a brand across a country or region; the agreement sets the rights and responsibilities. These are different offers, so ask exactly which one you are considering.

Ask for the actual agreement and a written explanation of the package. What name can you trade under? What training and support are included? What area can you serve (your territory), and what rights do you have there? Which products must you buy, and what ongoing fees apply? The wording on a marketing page is a starting point, not a legal classification of your arrangement.

For example, Tint World lists several franchise programs, while XPEL describes dealer and Signature Partner programs. Compare the obligations of the specific offers rather than treating every branded network as the same choice.

Compare the same parts of each offer

Make a side-by-side list of the business name you can use, products you may sell, mandatory purchases, training, help after opening and recurring fees. Record whether each answer comes from a marketing page, a proposed agreement or a question still waiting for an answer. Ask how the offer differs in your country. A similar logo does not establish similar obligations.

If you already run a business

Ask for a written conversion proposal covering your current premises, equipment, staff and services. Identify what could stay, what must change and which approvals are still needed. Compare that proposal with remaining independent. Do not assume conversion costs less or that the customers of an existing business will stay after a change.
